Finn To Fly In To Boltser MKL Attack |
|
MK Lightning are very pleased to announce the signing of Finnish forward Toni Alasaarela for the upcoming season. Toni is a 29 year old winger who will immediately bring much needed bite to our offence for the coming season. Last season Toni played for the Arlanda Wings in the Swedish 1st division where he was the team’s top point scorer and was amongst the league leaders. With the exception of one season in the last five Toni has been his team’s top scorer and we are very pleased at bringing a player in with his experience and proven track record.
Coach Poole said of his latest capture, ‘We are thrilled at the signing of Toni and know he will be a big hit with our fans and more importantly will give us a much needed added threat up front. He is not only very talented but he has a big frame at 6 feet and 200 lbs and I know I and all the other players are really looking forward to him joining the team. Over the last 5 seasons in Sweden he has regularly been his team’s offensive leader and I have no doubt that he will be the same for us next season. It is big move for Toni and I know he is very excited about next season and playing hockey here in Milton Keynes.
Toni on his upcoming move to British hockey, ‘I'm very happy to join MKL and I have heard only good things about the club and English hockey. The change of environment and a new challenge was exactly what I needed. I'm really looking forward to working with my new teammates and I am hoping to help the club in all the ways that I can’.
Toni’s first game will not be the first time some of our faithful fans have seen him play as a few of the Black Army will have seen Toni in action when he played for AIK in Sweden. Toni has also iced for his country’s national team at the U18 level and has played in both the Finnish first and Elite Leagues. Toni will wear number 20 next season.
We look forward to Toni and his partner’s arrival in the UK and making them apart of our MK family. |
