The MK Lightning are pleased to announce the re-signing of Mikko Skinnari for the upcoming season. Mikko will be returning for his 6th season with the Lightning and is the fourth and final import to be announced. Mikko will be playing in a new and vital role for the Lightning this coming season as he will be icing as a defender.
Coach Nick on his final foreign signing, ’Mikko signing for us is the finishing touches on what I believe to be a very exciting and strong team. I know there may be a few doubters out there that feel it is a risk playing Mikko as a defender but I have 100% faith in him that he will not only do well but be one of the premier defenders in our league. He is not unfamiliar with the role as he played many games at the back last season. He reads the game very well and positionally is as good as they come in our league. He has silky skills and is an exceptional passer and is ideally suited to playing at the back.
Poole went on to add, ‘ This summer there were two issues that I felt had to be addressed and they were to add another dimension to our offence and more importantly make us a better transition team in getting the puck up to our forwards in the right places. With the new import signings I feel our offence is considerably stronger. And now with the signings of Mikko, Greg Randall and Adam Radmall in defence I feel we have solved the second issue. We will be an exciting and quick team and one that I feel will be back challenging for silverware.
