Bazza Back for Another year
The Milton Keynes Lightning are pleased to announce that Barry Hollyhead will return for another season as Nr 1 Netminder for the upcoming campaign. Barry was voted ‘players player of the year’ and received the ‘Best Defensive Player’ award at the end of Season Awards Evening this past year. Barry had one of the league GAA and save % and was a member of the British Writers All Star Team for the EPL.

Nick said on Barry’s return’ at the end fo the season there was no looking around for another Netminder as Barry seems to be getting better year on year. We had a brief discussion and agreed terms very quickly as Barry was as keen to play in MK as we were to have him. He does not get some of the plaudits that other Netminder’s get, but a lot of that is due to Barry’s low key style. He is a very efficient Netminder who is a true professional and the most important aspect of the decision to bring him back is the simple fact that our team is so comfortable and confident with Barry backstopping us. I know he is very excited about the team we are putting together and is confident he will have his best season to date.

Ross Bowers

MKL would like to announce that Ross Bowers will not be icing with us for the 2008/9 season. We had a meeting with Ross where it was clear that he was not happy with his performance the last season and felt that as he has played all his junior and senior hockey in MK he would the opportunity to ice somewhere else, which we entirely agreed with. We are aware that he would ideally like to ice in the Elite League and we wish him all the best and hope that he can realise his true potential, but would add that we would be very surprised if Ross did not ice again for MK at some time in the future.
