The Thin Red Line - Alex Mettam  (Blue T-shirt)

Hockey is the ultimate team sport where success is determined by the work of the collective.  Shift after shift players step onto the ice playing to a system that relies on being in certain places at certain times.  Players know that if they stick to the system along with their team mates there will be few errors and a high chance of team victory. Individual glory is put aside for team success.  However, every so often individual brilliance can also be the key to victory.

On October 15, 2011 the MK Lightning were involved in a shoot out with the Bracknell Bees after finishing the match tied at 3-3.

Netminder Alex Mettam made the lonely skate from bench to goal 10 times without letting a puck cross the thin red line.  Mettsy made save after save giving his team mates the opportunity to eventually win the game.  His man of the match heroics shattered the league record of consecutive penalty shot saves.
