Supporters Club 2012-2013

With the costs of keeping an ice hockey team on the ice higher than ever, MK Lightning’s management has gone on record to thank the team’s Supporters’ Club (MKLSC) in raising funds to help cover essential operating costs for another season.  And with the rumour mill already in full swing, Supporters’ Club members who pay for Gold level membership are the first to find out who Nick Poole has signed for the Lightning roster for 2012-13.

Thanks to income from membership subscriptions and the fund-raising efforts of the MKLSC Committee, the Supporters’ Club was able to present Lightning with a cheque for just over £30,000 recently – and every penny of that will go directly towards helping meet day-to-day expenses, helping to pay for everything from stick tape to hockey sticks themselves, and from helmet visors to player wages.

On every home matchnight, the MKLSC Committee sell tickets for ‘Shirt Off His Back’, 50-50 and Golden Goal, as well as organising regular member-only social events like quiz nights, 'Meet The Players' and the end of season awards party. There are also unique events like the recent 'Evening with Lukas Zatopek', and a monthly prize draw for Gold club members with the chance to win cash prizes. At the most recent quiz night, supporters’ club members were joined by several members of the roster, and the end of season awards saw the entire Lightning team join supporters on the dance floor until the early hours!
Lightning’s General Manager Vito Rausa said, “The income donated by the Supporters Club really is a lifeline for us. Every single season they amaze us with the money they’re prepared to put our way to help keep the team on the ice. So on behalf of everyone at Lightning, I just want to say thankyou to every single member of the Supporters’ Club, and especially to the Committee and their helpers who work incredibly hard at every home game, often standing on a freezing cold concourse trying to persuade people to part with their cash. We really do appreciate every penny”.

This summer, as Nick Poole continues to shape the roster for next season, Gold level members of MKLSC will be the first to get the news on player signings, before the announcements appear on the club website or in the media. Gold membership costs just £10 per month which also includes a 15% merchandise discount, discounted entry to MKLSC social events and half price entry to the End of Season Awards. Or for a single annual payment of just £10 (£2.50 juniors) you can get a 10% merchandise discount and discounted entry to social events and the End of Season Awards.
