Despite unprecedented competition between EPL clubs this summer to secure key players, Milton Keynes Lightning are delighted to confirm they have secured the services of powerful Slovenian forward Blaz Emersic for the 2011 season.
Lightning moved quickly to secure the services of Emersic, 30, within days of the Slovenian leaving Slough Jets in January, helping bolster an injury-depleted Milton Keynes side with a wealth of experience gained in the Elite and Premier League as well as the US and Europe.
Confirming their stance that a good defence can win matches, Milton Keynes Lightning are delighted to conclude their defensive signing announcements for the coming season with the news that Lukas Zatopek will again play in the heart of the team’s defence. Zatopek, 33, was voted Most Valuable Player for the 2010-11 season, as well as Supporters’ Club Player of the Season.
Signing for Lightning in 2008 gave the Czech native his first opportunity to play ice hockey in Britain and he made his mark immediately, becoming the team’s top goalscoring and point-scoring defenceman in his maiden season at the Thunderdome. In his second season he helped Lightning to the league title, and last season was a pivotal part of the roster which went all the way to the EPL playoff final in Coventry.
At the heart of every truly competitive team is a strong leader, so Milton Keynes Lightning is delighted to announce the re-signing of pivotal MKL stalwart, skipper Adam Carr.
Following the confirmations of Michael Farn and Tom Norton in the defensive lines of MK Lightning, the club has announced that Lewis Christie and Ross Green will remain in Milton Keynes, and Leigh Jamieson stays with the team but will become part of Lightning’s attacking threat. Meanwhile Jacob Heron has taken the decision to move to another club.
