MKL Re-Sign Two Imports
The Milton Keynes Lightning are very pleased to announce the re-signing of two of last season's key players. Both Lukas Zatopek and Andre Smulter have signed on for a second season with the team. Lukas a 6'3" defender who became arguably the league's best defenceman became a massive fan favorite in Milton Keynes and we are thrilled to have him back. Andre Smulter was one of the league's top goal and point scorers this past season but more importantly he was a leader both on and off the ice with his work rate and professionalism. Both the management and players of the MKL are thrilled to have the talented Finn back for a second season.
Coach Nick Poole on the signings, 'We are thrilled to have these two quality players back in our lineup. They both got stronger as the year went on and they became more accustemed to the British game. We are expecting even bigger things from them next year as we feel they will hit the ground running. More importantly was the willingness they both showed in re-signing. They have enjoyed there hockey here in MK and they are desperate to get back to Coventry and go one better. They both bring skill leadership and spirit to our team and I am sure the fans will be very pleased upon this announcement."
Gary Clarke heads to pastures new
The Milton Keynes Lightning would like to announce that Gary Clarke will not be returning for the 2009/2010 season. After lengthy discussions with Gary, he has decided to go with an offer that has been tabled to him by another club. Gary has been a great servant for us over the last 7 years and has been a massive part of our success. We would like to wish both he and his family well in their new team.
