Lightning eased to a comfortable 7-2 victory over a Telford Tigers side who eventually proved no match for the power of the home forwards.

But the scoreline only told half the tale as Telford took a 2-0 lead in the first 10 minutes and held onto it until more than half way through the game.

Two Lightning goals in just over a minute blew a hole in Tigers plans to defend what they had and when a third goal by the hosts went in the 37th minute it was the end of their brave fight.

For most of the third session Lightning were cruising – adding four more goals without reply.

Telford opened their account on 4mins 25secs when Henrik Sahlin followed up after goalie Barry Hollyhead was only able to parry Marek Hornak’s shot.

The lead was doubled after 9mins 13secs when Juraj Senko’s pass from the defensive zone was met by Hornak who raced away to beat Hollyhead one on one.

It was not until after the halfway mark that Lightning finally started to get back in the game when Leigh Jamieson's blasted home after 31mins 17secs with goalie Declan Ryan looking to be unsighted.

Just over a minute later it was all square as Adam Brittle set up Nick Poole with a pass from the right - the Canadian firing in first time at 32mins 28secs.

When Ryan Selwood was penalised for holding the opponent’s stick it gave Lightning the chance to score on the powerplay – Poole capitalising at 37mins 41secs.

Within 48 secs of the start of the third period Juraj Gracik shot high into the goal to make it 4-2 before Adam Carr was given too much to space to beat Ryan on 43mins 45secs.

Jamieson got his second of the game after powering up the left hand side to register at 56mins 24secs and Blaz Emersic added the seventh with 38secs to the buzzer.
