6.11.11 Guildford v MKL
Lightning took a third point off Guildford Flames in two games as they suffered an overtime loss in a thrilling encounter at the Spectrum Centre.

The city side had an early blow after Michael Farn was penalised for roughing with Branislav Kvetan setting Greg Chambers up to net a powerplay goal on 2mins 57secs.

But although Lightning could make nothing on a powerplay chance shortly afterwards they did strike back when Adam Brittle, assisted by Adam Carr and Nick Poole, beat goalie Mark Lee after 6mins 19secs.

Things exploded between Flames Neil Liddiard and Lightning’s Grant McPherson when the Guildford man left the bench to battle with the Scot. Liddiard was given a match penalty while McPherson was thrown out on a five minutes plus game penalty.

With less than a minute and a half to go on the period Lightning edged in front with a powerplay goal from Juraj Gracik.

But the lead didn’t last long as Curtis Huppe registered on a powerplay for Flames after 23mins 59secs – while Lukas Zatopek was serving time for interference.

Brittle fired Milton Keynes back in front at 34mins 6secs – a lead held at the second break.

Just 2mins 20secs after the start of the third session Milos Melicherik levelled again for Flames and 3-3 remained the score after 60 minutes, thus necessitating overtime with Paul Dixon bagging the winner for Guildford after 61mins 13secs.
