18/12/11 Manchester v MKL |
|
Leigh Jamieson bagged two powerplay goals for the second game in succession but it was not enough to ensure Lightning of a win at Manchester Phoenix. MK fell victim to a pair of late Martin Cingel goals after battling back from 2-0 down to tie the game at 2-2 before the Slovakian’s strikes gave the hosts a 4-2 win. Tom Duggan set up Ciaran Long for the opening goal on 7mins 36secs and things got even worse for the travellers after 11mins 35secs when Slava Koulikov was the supplier for the first of Cingel’s three goals. The visitors had two powerplay opportunities as first Long, then Juraj Faith, were sent to the sin bin for hooking and holding respectively, but they were unable to capitalise. Lightning finally got a goal back while Koulikov was the penalty box for charging with Jamieson converting a Nick Poole supply on 26mins 6secs. Further penalties on both teams failed to produce any more goals in the second session and it was not until 46mins 6secs that Lightning equalised through Jamieson on the powerplay. But they had no answer to Cingel’s double strikes at 52mins 19secs and 57mins 41secs.
