Three first period Lightning goals without reply left Slough Jets stunned at the Thunderdome in the second game of a weekend double header against the Berkshire side.

But Jets were able to fight back to get within a goal of the hosts by the second break.

And with just under 16 minutes remaining it was all square, making for a tense final quarter of an hour with the points eventually decided by a 51st minute Lightning powerplay strike.

Some fantastic puck control by Adam Brittle as he split the Slough defence to set up Nick Poole for the first goal on 12mins 16secs before Leigh Jamieson finished off after goalie Gregg Rockman blocked but failed to hold Blaz Emersic’s shot on 15mins 44secs.

Joe Greener was penalised for hooking just over a minute later and that allowed Lightning to score a rare powerplay goal – Poole firing in from Adam Carr’s across the face of goal pass at 17mins 52secs.

When Emersic added a fourth goal from Brittle’s behind the net pass after 27mins 25secs home fans belief that Jets could be beaten started to grow.

But only 29secs later Ryan Watt sent Adam Calder away for a one on one challenge with goalie Alex Mettam unable to save his shot.

Jets then took advantage of a hooking call on Jamie Line with Calder the provider for Doug Sheppard on 28mins 50secs.

Calder made it 4-3 after 35mins 8secs and a powerplay goal from an acute angle by Darias Pliskauskas 4mins 14secs into the third period tied the game.

The deciding goal came courtesy of Juraj Gracik after 51mins 56secs while Lightning were on the powerplay.
