Lightning bagged two more valuable league points with a well earned 6-4 victory over Bracknell Bees at the Thunderdome.

But they had to comeback from a two goal deficit at the first break to secure the win which was mainly due to a four goal blitz in less than six second period minutes.

Bees took full advantage of the first powerplay of the game when Leigh Jamieson was called for slashing after 2mins 33secs. Within 11 seconds Rob Lamey set up Lukas Smital to fire past goalie Alex Mettam.

Lightning were unable to make any headway on two powerplays before Bees struck again through Michael Bowman after 14mins 20secs.

Only 2mins 4secs of the second period had elapsed before Nick Poole supplied Tuomas Tikkanen for the first of his two goals with Bees’ Lewis Turner serving time for hooking.

A further powerplay – Bees called for too many men – resulted in Lightning grabbing the equaliser thanks to Adam Brittle from Michael Wales on 32mins 41secs.

This sparked a mad six minutes in which the hosts scored three more times – Tikkanen the provider for Adam Carr after 33mins 21secs.

Captain got his second – again Tikkanen got the first assist – at 37mins 7secs before Jamie Line, from Brittle, made it 5-2 1min 42secs from the break.

The match looked to be all over when Tikkanen made it 6-2 after 46mins 14secs –it certainly was game over for goalie Carl Ambler who was replaced by Tom Annetts.

But Bees had other ideas and netted twice on the same powerplay at 50mins 32secs thanks to Peter Jasik and then Shaun Thompson after 51mins 32secs.

Bees withdrew Annetts for the extra skater in the final 56secs but it had no effect.
