Telford v MKL 31/10/10

Monir Kalgoum carried on where he finished off to set Lightning on their way to a 6-2 win – and first four point weekend of the season – at Telford Tigers.
The Swedish forward capitalised on an early powerplay to put the visitors ahead in the second minute.

Tigers got a goal back on the powerplay when Joe Henry’s shot hit the top corner on 8mins 20secs but, for the most, that was as good as it got for the Shropshire side.

Telford born Gary Clarke got Lightning off to a great start in the second session with a goal after just 37 seconds before Matt Towalski claimed his first goal of the season at 33mins 29secs.

Clarke then rounded off the session with his second of the evening 37 seconds from the break.

Tigers – missing import Andrejs Maslovski due to an eye infection and having released Chris Allen in midweek – could find no way back in the third period.
When Nick Poole bagged his opening goal of the campaign at 51mins 43secs it was truly curtains for the home side. For good measure Andre Smulter got in on the act with Lightning’s sixth at 53mins 54secs.

Adam Brittle’s younger brother, Luke, opened his Tigers’ account with what was no more than a consolation for the hosts at 58mins 33secs.
