Lightning failed to break their duck as they went down to Slough Jets for the fourth time this season, despite making a bright start.
Ross Green got his first league goal for the home team with a fantastic blue line shot which rocketed into the net on 8mins 27secs but Lightning fell behind just after the half way stage and ended up 5-3 losers.

Jets equalised within 31 seconds of the beginning of the second session through Slava Koulikov, assisted by Dan Davies.

Lightning were unable to make anything of a two plus 10 minute penalty on John Connolly for checking from behind but they did get the edge again when Adam Carr set Leigh Jamieson up on 24mins 10secs. However Jets levelled once more at 25mins 14secs – again Koulikov was the scorer with Darius Pliskauskas the provider.

Jets went in front once more with Andy Munroe setting Pliskauskas to beat goalie Barry Hollyhead after 25mins 32secs and from then on Lightning were left chasing the game.

The hosts’ plight became worse as they conceded two more goals in the first five minutes of the third session. Once more man of the match Pliskauskas was involved in both of them.

The Lithuanian was the supplier for Shaun Thompson on 42mins 25secs while Koulikov was provider for Pliskauskas to score 2mins 32 secs later to make it 5-2.

Lightning found themselves reduced to three skaters when Carr was penalised for tripping 29 seconds after Grant McPherson was called on a two plus 10 minute penalty for checking from behind. However Jets were unable to score on the powerplay.

Lukas Zatopek reduced the deficit with a third goal for Lightning on 54mins 31secs but it was too late to affect the result.
