The Milton keynes Lightning Supporters Club committee would just like to say a massive thank you for making the month of November the success it was, the final sums raised for Help for Heroes and MKL were £4190.26p and £3505.09p, the difference between the two was the money received for the wrist bands which goes purely to H4H.
The whole fund raising theme centred around H4H really caught the imagination of MKL supporters, first up was the playing shirts and warm up shirts sponsorship which saw them virtually all snapped up before any designs were revealed or even designed!!..then we had the fantastic response to merchandise, looking around the rink on matchnights is a pleasure on the eye!!...then we have had a tombola which was another huge success, a raffle for the camo teddy, grid raffles and a guess the weight of the cake, all these were so well supported by the vast majority of home and away supporters on matchnights, thank you. The month finally came to end for fundraising on Saturday night, which appeared to go down very well with fans and players of both clubs. In attendance in there uniforms were RAF Halton and the local E Company 7 Rifles. The evening began with a "noisy" minutes applause and then a stupendous singing of the National Anthem by Leah followed by a ceremonial dropping of the puck by the service personnel on the ice. RAF Halton PT Instructors also performed a workout routine on the ice which went down very well but looked a little "tricky" at one stage on the ice!!..we are hoping to have them back again in the New Year, who have promised to come back with a newer and even better routine! The man of the match awards were presented by local H4H representive David Blyth and his wife, who then also received a cheque for £4190.26p on behalf of the Help for Heroes charity. The evening was rounded off with what I thought was a truly impressive and brilliant site, the grouping of the uniformed personnel from RAF Halton and E Company 7 Rifles along with all the players. A massive Thank You to you all who have one way or another made the last month a huge success, we should all be very proud of our club and ourselves for what we have achieved.
