Milton Keynes Lightning ice hockey club is delighted to announce the signing of the highly-rated player Blaz Emersic from Slough Jets.
The Slovenian joined Jets from Elite League team Nottingham Panthers during the 2006-07 season, and during his career at The Hangar he scored an impressive 273 points from 194 games, including 119 goals.
Last season Emersic was Slough’s top scorer with 53 goals from 54 EPL games, and fired his team to victory in the EPL playoff final in Coventry. “We are delighted to have signed a player of Blaz’s calibre, and so soon after he became available,” said MK Lightning’s General Manager Vito Rausa. “In my view, he was the EPL's player of the season last year and was perhaps the deciding player in the Coventry playoff finals which secured Slough the trophy". Nick Poole, Lightning’s head coach, was equally pleased with the team's capture, “Blaz is a class player and more importantly a big-game player. We are thrilled to bring him onto our roster and we feel he will provide us with a lift that can help what was already a good team become a title contender. We have had a our fair share of injuries this year and running with five imports will give us both cover and options. He is versatile and puts the team first above personal stats which was evident when he played nearly a whole season in defence two years ago. I know he is excited to get back to playing hockey with a smile on his face and is looking forward to mixing with his new team mates." Vito Rausa concluded, “Blaz was a terrific servant for Slough. It’s a credit to the dedication and support of MK Lightning’s supporters that we’ve been able to sign him, and I know they’ll give him the welcome and support he deserves.” Blaz Emersic will be available for selection at MK Lightning with immediate effect, starting with this weekend’s home fixture against fierce local rivals Peterborough Phantoms, face off 7.00pm at Planet Ice in Milton Keynes. |
