MKL Announce Netminders For Season

The Milton Keynes Lightning are pleased to announce the return of Barry Hollyhead and the signing of youngster Alex Mettam for the 2009/10 season.  Barry comes back for another year after last season where he was deservedly named EPL first team all-star.  Alex comes to MK after two season's as backup to Joe Watkins at Guildford.   Nick on the return of Baz, 'Signing Barry is a very easy decision for us as we feel we are getting the most consistent netminder in the league.  Last season Barry was outstanding and he seems to be getting better with age.  I was very pleased Barry got the recognition he deserved last year as he has been under-appreciated for many years.  He is not as flashy as some, but there is no better puck stopper in the league.  Equally important is what Barry brings to our changing room.  He is a leader and a true professional'.   On the signing of Alex, 'We are thrilled to be bringing in a very promising netminder in Alex Mettam.  Alex backstopped Joe in Guildford last season and played for two years in a class organisation.  He is looking to get more minutes this season and we feel we can provide that.  Alex will push Baz and we know that Baz can also help Alex develop as a player.  He is young and athletic and is also looking to help our junior netminders this coming season on our weekly netminding sessions.'
