Disappointing End To Great Year |
|
The 2008/09 season came to an end on Sunday as we lost to the Peterborough Phantoms 5-4 in the Playoff Final in Coventry. It was a disapponting end to what has been a enjoyable and rewarding year.
One which has seen the club go from strength to strength both on and off the ice. Despite not winning any silverware we acheived two of our three goals from the start of the season. That being to finish in top three of league (second place) and make the Coventry Finals weekend (runner-up). We feel the team on the ice was significantly stronger than the previous season and played some very entertaining hockey. In this area we will continue to make improvements for the upcoming season. Off the ice both the supporters club and match day volunteers (it is amazing how many people it takes to play a game of hockey) have been immense. There is no doubt we have one of the greatest clubs in Britain at any level and it was plain to see at Coventry where we had the greatest numbers and loudest support. The commitment and loyalty our fans provide us is second to none and we are incredibly proud to play in front of you. There were wet eyes on both sides of the glass on Sunday when we skated around the ice for the last time this season. We can't thank you enough. Financially the Supporter's Club have backed us to the hilt and it has resulted in us putting the best possible team on the ice. Your loyalty and support have been the backbone of this club. Once again, thank you and we hope to see you all at the End of Season Party on Friday and one last time down at Planet Ice for Nick Poole's Testimonial on Saturday Harry, Vito and Nick |
