With only a week left in the regular season and after last weekend's very mixed performances I felt it was a good time to interact with our supporters.
Saturday left us all feeling confident and optimistic about the upcoming playoffs only to have that feeling dashed by what was a very poor performance on Sunday. As a team we are very disappointed and embarrassed by our performance on Sunday against the team that we will be playing in the quarter finals. As a group we have a lot of pride and we let ourselves and more importantly our fans down. Over the next eight days we will be doing everything in our power to make sure we are ready to play 6 periods of our best hockey against the Bison in just under 2 weeks. I still have a lot of belief in this team and know we can turn this into a successful season. I realize that having five imports gives us all the ability to second guess and question certain players. This is the situation that we have put ourselves in and I still believe it was the right call to do. What I would like to say is that every bit of success we have had has always come down to the team 'ethos' and 'spirit'. We don't rely on one player to win games and one player will never be responsible for losing a game. It will not be a question of personnel that will get us to Coventry, it will be a question of team character and mentality and I do firmly believe we will get there. Once at Coventry then anything is possible as you are down to having to win that one game to progress! We have two games this weekend to prepare ourselves mentally and indeed physically for the task at hand, and whilst both games won't be easy they do give us an opportunity to put Sunday behind us. At what is not an easy time for us thanks for your support as always, it is appreciated. Nick Poole |
