The Milton Keynes Lightning are very pleased to announce the return of Gary Clarke to the Milton Keynes Lightning for the forthcoming season. Gary returns to MK after spending a season away from Milton Keynes with the Guildford Flames. Clarkey spent the previous seven seasons in MK and has consistently been one of the league's top scorers since the Milton Keynes Lightning joined the English Premier League some eight years ago.
On Gary's return Player Coach Nick Poole said, 'Despite what some people believe, Clarkey left us on good terms a year ago after a very frustrating last season at MK . I think the year away has been good for Clarkey, and I am really excited in having Gary back in Milton Keynes and I know that his time away will see him back to his best. I think there will be less pressure on him than before as I feel we have a much more balanced team. With us making only a few changes in our team I am confident he will slot in to a line that we know will work for both Gary and indeed the Team and this will give us a lot more potency up front'.
He went on to add, 'In previous years we used Gary in lots of situations, this will be no different this year. However, this year it will be more of a case of Clarkey adding to what we already have rather than expecting him to be our main contributor up front. Nick went on to say that when the Club won some silverware last season I spoke to Gary and he was most complementary about the team and was genuinely pleased at our success and I know he is excited about our prospects this year and wants to do everything he can to help the Club, win some more'. Gary had this to say about his return, ..... I am very excited and pleased to be back with the Lighting. My time away last season only highlighted what a well run and sound club there is in MK, they always stick to their values and beliefs which is a huge credit to Vito, Nick and Harry, and that is without taking anything away from Guildford and their structure.
My congratulations go to the team for all their success of last season, the drive and passion that the lightning showed was a force to be reconned with and I'm sure it will be the same next season. I am very proud to be wearing the lightning shirt once more and look forward to being a member of a very ambitous team with a tough challenge ahead in a very competative league. |
