Bring a Buddy

When MK Lightning asked their supporters to back the team by bringing a friend or relative to their home game against Guildford Flames in January, the reaction was overwhelmingly positive.  Now, in time for the team’s home game next Saturday against league title rivals Slough Jets, the Lightning can offer another incentive for newcomers to the sport to come and enjoy what’s sure to be an action-packed game.

On Saturday 25 February when Lightning take on Slough Jets, the club’s season ticket holders, members of the Lightning supporters’ club and this season’s shirt sponsors can bring along guests who are new to the sport, and their guests will pay just £6 for adult tickets, and £3 for children’s tickets (normally £12 for adults and £5.50 for children).

Last month, the club urged regular supporters to help pack out the Thunderdome for the team’s game against league leaders Guildford Flames, and the result was some 1,500 fans giving their noisy vocal backing to the team, the biggest Lightning attendance in several years, and a spine-tingling atmosphere. Now the club wants to recreate that atmosphere to provide an intimidating backdrop for the visit of league title rivals, Slough Jets.

“When we asked supporters to bring a newcomer to the Guildford home game last month, we were absolutely amazed at the fantastic response”, said the Lightning’s general manager, Vito Rausa. “Anyone who was there will tell you what an amazing evening it was, so it would be just great if we could rec

reate that - this time for the home game against Slough.

“After the Guildford game, we heard and read lots of stories about people who saw their first ever game of ice hockey that night, how much they enjoyed the evening, and that a lot of them were thinking of coming back. Our regular supporters already know that games against the Jets are always barnstormers, so we hope that by making discounted tickets available to newcomers, they’ll get a great night’s entertainment and first class value for their money – and the Thunderdome will have that electric atmosphere again!”

The offer is initially being made only to 2011-12 season ticket holders, existing members of the Supporters’ Club (standard and Gold), and sponsors of this season’s warm-up, home and away shirts; these supporters can apply for an unlimited number of discounted tickets for their guests’ use only.
