Lightning Set For Remainder of Season

With only two and a half months left in the season we are looking forward to the weeks ahead and the knowledge that every match now becomes crucial.  With Cup semi-finals looming and key games against teams that are around us we know we must now find a level of consistency that has eluded us over the last couple of weeks.  We have had some great performances (Guildford and Basingstoke away) but also been guilty of some flat performances that (Sheffield) or mistake riddled (Guildford home) that have resulted in dropped points.

The good news is that we still find ourselves in a great league position and with players coming back to full fitness over the next week or so we should be in fine shape to up our challenge in the league and prepare for the Cup semi's.

It was a tough decision to let George go but we felt that brining in some fresh energy and also a more offensive minded player would regenerate our season and give us a bit more confidence in those tight games/situations that we have found ourselves in as of late.  George was a good team mate and we kept a very open dialogue with him and his agent through out the process which meant he left on excellent terms and we wish him all the very best with his new team in Slovakia.

Already I can see a lift in the energy of the team through this past week of training.  Tuomas Tikkanen 'Tiki' has settled in well and I feel will be a very welcome addition to our top line and the power play.    He looks very composed on the puck and has a very quick release which will be a threat to all the netminders in league.  I know all the players and supporters are excited to have him here in MK and we look forward to our new number 14 taking to the ice this Saturday against Basingstoke.
